Moadon Seret Screens “Lost Islands” (Im Avudim), Israeli Film Directed by Reshef Levi

On Sunday, 3/6/2011, the Tarbuton’s  Moadon Seret Israeli- Israeli Movie Club met at 7:30 p.m. to screen the Israeli film “Lost Islands” (Im Avudim).  The group met for the first time at the Jewish Film Festival last month and will now be meeting bi-monthly for a film and discussion.

Im Avudim, directed by Reshef Levi, was released in 2008 and tells the story of who Erez (Michael Moshonov) and Ofer (Oshri Cohen) are twin boys just reaching maturity in the Israel of the early 1980s. Erez hopes to make films after completing his national service, while Ofer has been aiming to be an elite commando in the Israel Defense Forces for as long as their family can remember. Their summer holiday is filled with dances, flirting, pranks, and ‘The Lost Islands’ – the ever-present Australian television series shown on high-rotation on Israeli television. When a gorgeous new girl arrives at their school, however, the relationship between Erez and Ofer will be brought close to breaking point.

The Moadon Seret intends to follow each film screening with a discussion among the group about the film.  To join the mailing list for the Moadon Seret, click here.
