The programs below represent those offered by Tarbuton in 2015-2016. This page will be updated shortly as sponsored projects roll out their programs for 2016-2017.

In programs offered by sponsored projects, that are aligned with our mission, you’ll likely hear conversations in Hebrew, Jewish Holiday celebrations with Hebrew and English (as needed), and an authentic Israeli setting.  Classes are typically filled with Israeli music, literature, materials from Israel and outdoor and food experiences.  Founders of projects we sponsor will continue to create authentic cultural experiences, carrying on Tarbuton’s tradition of 10 years.  Scroll down to the bottom for videos from past programs.

Kef Li

Preschool – THURS 3:30-4:40 in North County (Location San Diego Botanic Garden, Encinitas)

$144 (one 8-week session) or $382 (three 8-week sessions, enrolled at one time)

There are three 8-weeks sessions (Oct 29, 2015 – Jan 14, 2016, Jan 21 – Mar 24, 2016, and Apr 14 – Jun 9, 2016)
1 Hour: A unique Hebrew only environment designed with our preschoolers in mind. Kef Li is like going to Summer Camp in Israel year round. Our students learn Hebrew through stories, acting, dancing, music, singing, arts and crafts, yoga and movement, sports, puppets and more! Kef Li is fun, active and completely creative. Students hear Hebrew throughout and use words in their play. This class is perfect for both Hebrew and English speaking children.

כיף לי! תכנית חדשה לגיל הרך הילדים ילמדו אוצר מילים בעברית תוך כדי משחק, שירה, ריקוד, יוגה ותנועה, משחקי ספורט וסיפורים. הכל באווירה של כיף וחוויה ישראלית. מידי שבוע סיפור חדש יאפשר למורה והתלמידים לצאת למסע חוויתי ויצירתי בעברית ביחד, הילדים ילמדו מילים חדשות. תוכנית כיף לי מתאימה לילדים דוברי עברית ואנגלית

Sababa Hebrew Experience

K-2nd Grade – MON or WED 3-5 p.m. in Carmel Valley/Del Mar – $950
2 hours: Emphasis on comprehension and spoken Hebrew. Do your kids hang out with Jewish friends in the neighborhood after school, and play IN HEBREW? Ours do! No books, no homework. Just fun. Jewish enrichment during the year with small groups acting, art, songs, dance games and mastering Hebrew along the way. Children gain confidence in a Hebrew speaking environment, developing comprehension, speaking skills and reading readiness through fun, challenging, interactive activities.  Reading readiness includes the ability to recognize and use the Hebrew alphabet, to spell out and sound out words. Sababa provides the skills necessary to succeed in Tarbuton’s Yesh Ivrit reading and writing immersive continuing program. An authentic Israeli Hebrew immersion setting with warm, engaging, professionally trained Israeli teachers. Your kids will celebrate Jewish holidays, learn all the classic Jewish and Israeli holiday songs, make Jewish friends, learn Hebrew and have fun! English and Hebrew speakers welcome!

הילדים שלכם משחקים עם חברים אחרי הצהריים בעברית? הילדים שלנו כן
אין ספרים ואין שיעורי בית, רק כיף! מגוון פעילויות בקבוצות קטנות, כגון הצגת הצגות, שירים ישראלים, יצירה ומשחקים, תוך חיזוק כישורי הדיבור והבנת השפה העברית. ילדים מפתחים בטחון בהבנה, דיבור, והכנה לקריאה בסביבה עברית תוך כדי שימוש בפעולות ומשחקים  מאתגרים וכיפים. הכנה לקריאה כוללת בתוכה את היכולת לזהות את האותיות והצלילים, זיהוי האותיות וצלילן בתוך מילים והיכולת להגות אותם. תוכנית “סבבה” תספק את הכלים הנצרכים לתלמיד בכדי להצליח בתוכנית ״יש עברית”  תוכנית ההמשך של התרבותון לקריאה וכתיבה באווירה שכולה עברית-ישראלית. נחגוג יחד חגים יהודיים והתלמידים ילמדו מגוון שירים קלאסיים ישראלים ושירי חגים. כל המורים בצוות הינם ישראלים בעלי הכשרה מקצועית, והם מדברים עם התלמידים רק בעברית

Yesh Ivrit

Notice: In response to your request Sunday Sababa K-2nd will be replaced with Yesh Ivrit K-2nd.  And a new 6th-8th Grade Yesh Ivrit is now open.

K-2nd, 3rd-5th and 6th-8th Grade groups – MON or WED 3-5 p.m. or SUN 1-3 p.m. in Carmel Valley/Del Mar – $950
2 hours: Continuing American Hebrew students, and Israeli children who speak Hebrew at home, are assessed into work groups with multiple instructors and activities that strengthen all 4 skills: reading, writing, speaking and comprehension. Hebrew speakers who are beginning reading/writing students can join. Students who are more advanced in one or another skill will work with others similarly matched so teachers can differentiate learning for rapid advancement. The program is interactive with activities that strengthen comprehension and spoken skills. Our well established reading and writing program uses books and supplements and requires work at home. Children will also learn Israeli songs, celebrate Jewish Holidays and learn about Israel’s history, geography and profiles of Israeli leaders.  The Sababa Program and/or past Hebrew language instruction in a Sunday School or Jewish Day school “Hebrew in Hebrew” program is a prerequisite for non Hebrew speaking students.

התכנית מיועדת לאמריקאים עם ידע בעברית ולישראלים המדברים עברית בבית. התלמידים יחולקו לקבוצות לימוד על פי רמתם, על פי הערכה שתבוצע. דרך מגוון פעילויות הם יחזקו את ארבעת מיומנויות השפה: קריאה, כתיבה, דיבור והבנה. דוברי עברית שעדיין אינם קוראים וכותבים מוזמנים להצטרף.  התכנית אינטראקטיבית, נשלב לימוד של שירים ישראלים, חגיגת חגים יהודים, היסטוריה וגאוגרפיה של ישראל, ועוד..המורים המלמדים בתכנית הינם דוברי עברית כשפת אם אשר עברו הכשרה מקיפה. תלמידים המשתתפים באופן עקבי בתכנית הלימודים שלנו במשך כארבע שנים, מחזקים משמעותית את ארבעת מיומנויות השפה. השתתפות קודמת בתכנית לימודים סבבה של התרבותון ו/או במסגרת לימודים דומה בעברית הינה דרישת קדם לתלמידים שאינם דוברי עברית

Teen Dance Troupe

6th-8th Grade – SUN 12-1 p.m. in Carmel Valley/Del Mar – $400
1 hour: Performing in San Diego since 2009. All dancers are required to have consistent attendance and to commit to rehearsals. The students work on several dance numbers to contemporary Israeli music with performances in various venues including historically the Yom Haatzmaout Festival in May and the annual Lawn Event at the House of Israel.These performers bring their passion for Israel to audiences throughout San Diego through high-quality choreography, to Israeli classics and modern “Top 40” Israeli music.  Dancers select Israeli contemporary and classic music and professional dance instructors choreograph and instruct focusing on balance, strength, flexibility, hip-hop, jazz, lyrical and creative movement.

יום העצמאות והארוע השנתי של הבית הישראלי בבלבואה פארק המשתתפים מחויבים להגיע בקביעות למפגשים, ולהשתתף בחזרות.

Kesher

K-4th Grade – WED 12:30-3:00 in La Jolla – $899.  Only 6 spots remain for this amazing program as of 7/15!
2.5 hours: Going into it’s third year, this Jewish enrichment program is designed for Hebrew Language Charter School students to complement the curriculum of their Hebrew immersion program. A limited number of Israeli/Hebrew speakers may also join.  This program is catered to the participants based on surveyed priorities. The program is conducted primarily in Hebrew. Transportation is available on half day Wednesday 12:30-1:00 p.m. A shuttle/bus and driver accompanied by a Tarbuton teacher pick up the children. Parents will pick up their children at 3:00 p.m. Shuttle service back to the Charter School is also provided for families living further South. Children bring a sack lunch to eat upon arrival.

**Tarbuton is a member of Jewish Education Project’s Hebrew Charter Jewish Enrichment Network and Kesher is made possible through a generous grant from the Steinhardt Foundation for Jewish Life.

תוכנית העשרה היהודית “קשר” נכנסת לשנתה השלישית. תוכנית זו מיועדת לתלמידי בית ספר הצ’רטר בעברית. “קשר” נוצרה במיוחד לעבוד בשיתוף פעולה עם התוכנית הלימודית של בית ספר הצ’רטר. מספר מקומות מוגבל מוצע מידי שנה לתלמידים שאינם תלמידי בית ספר הצ’רטר אך מעוניינים להצטרף לתוכנית ה”קשר”. התוכנית נבנתה בהתאמה לבקשותיהם ורצונותיהם של משפחות התלמידים המשתתפים בתוכנית

קשר” הינה מתנהלת בעיקר בעברית. הסעות מוצעות בימי רביעי (היום הקצר) לתלמידים מ12:30-1:00″
אוטובוס/מיניוואן עם נהג מוסמך ומורה מלווה של התרבותון,אוספים את הילדים בנקודת האיסוף של בית ספר ומסיעים אותם אל מיקום התוכנית. התוכנית מסתיימת ב-3:00 והורים יכולים לאסוף את ילדיהם. הסעה בחזרה דרומה לנקודת האיסוף המקורית מוצעת למשפחות התלמידים שגרים יותר דרומה. תלמידים מתבקשים להביא עימם ארוחת צהריים.

Sababa @San Diego Public Elementary Schools

K-4th Grade

1 Hour: Del Mar School District 2015-2016: Offered Week days at 2:35 at various schools: Schools are: on Tuesdays at Ashley Falls, Carmel Del Mar, and Sage Canyon.  Register through the District/School on this page. Posting of Schedules will be August 14, and Registration through District begins August 19 at their office and runs through Sept. 9. Classes begin October 5, 2015. Registration is first come, first serve and space is limited. Late registrations will be accepted on a space available basis and subject to a $20 late fee made out directly to DMUSD. Please contact the After School Programs Office at 858-793-0071 with any questions or visit the After School Enrichment website at http://www.dmusd.org/domain/208 for additional information.  The Tarbuton will not know the status of the class, if it fills or who is signed up until after the registration deadline.

1 Hour: Solana Beach School District 2015-2016.  Schools TBD pending decision from the District.  Classes begin in September 2015. Mondays and we have requested Solana Highlands, Carmel Creek, and Solana Ranch. Please express interest with the District this summer so they know you are interested in one of these schools. Visit the After School enrichment site at http://sbsd.k12.ca.us/domain/237  Signed registration forms and fees can be mailed to the SBCDC Office or dropped off at your child’s school by the deadline for each session. Class fees can be paid by check (made out to SBCDC) or by credit card (VISA, MasterCard, and Discover).

1 Hour: Poway School District 2015-2016.  Offered at Willow Grove on Tuesdays.

Convenient:  Tarbuton Hebrew immediately after the bell on your child’s public school campus.  **Any student enrolled in the District can attend a class at any District School location if they can walk/drive to the school where the class is offered.  If classes at your school don’t fill, we may be able to offer transportation to any of our Center locations on Wednesdays.

Native Hebrew speakers/Israelis are encouraged to enroll on Sundays where we can accommodate Israelis with multiple levels of Hebrew.  We discourage Israeli/Native Hebrew speakers from enrolling in public school beginner classes.
