Since 2003, we have engaged over 2000 Jewish households in Jewish activities in San Diego across all ages through Jewish circles meeting weekly, bi-monthly and year round.
Events have included speakers, plays and concerts, and Jewish communities meeting for weekly classes, weekly playgroups, monthly hiking outings, monthly cooking workshops, dance classes, Israeli film and book discussions.
These communities meet throughout San Diego, some in Del Mar, Carmel Valley, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, La Jolla and Del Cerro meeting in rented spaces, public schools, parks, libraries and bookstores and private homes.

Check out Gady’s Saturday morning Shabbat Israeli music community weekly on his online radio station at Kol California or ride with Steve & Yossi and Shalom and Chrome a Jewish biker group every Saturday. Check out Tarbuton’s Israeli cultural groups such as Galit’s Israeli Book Club, Ellen and Glenda’s Cafe v’Ivrit, Tsipi’s evenings with Israeli film, or Jennie’s Bira V’Nashira.
Want to create something new around your interest? Come to a Jewish Engagement Lab meeting to brainstorm, get support or ideas and take your community idea to the next stage. Over 18 projects pitched their ideas at our Jewish Community Hackathon in 2017. You can see some of the programs that continue here.
Watch for the next Startup18 fellowship which supports grassroots community organizers by subsidizing training from successful National programs so you can create a new Jewish circle. Fellowships are a great way to learn a new skill, and to have a network of local facilitators launching the same kind of program in their own circle of friends or neighborhood.
