1:00-3:00 p.m. Old Time Fiddle Jam of the CSOFTA,
California State Old Time Fiddlers Association, District 7 Avery Ellisman will discuss how music crosses the cultural, religious and generational divide joined by Lynn Lewis, from kibbutz Tzora in Israel sharing stories of the American country/bluegrass music scene in Israel. A California State Old Time Fiddler’s Association fiddle jam will follow.
Avery Ellisman Bio : Avery lived in Israel from 1991 to 2001, business Exec by day and American bluegrass and country western musician by night he played music with Israelis from many countries, and played fiddle, mandolin and guitar for well-known Israeli artists. He produced Israel’s first American-style country music album, After the Storm, by Smokin’ Gun , and is the Founder and Director of the Julian Family Fiddle Camp . He performs with bluegrass band, Prairie Sky.
Lynn Lewis Bio : A resident of kibbutz Tzora, Israel, founder of their folk club and originally from England, Lynn performed in the U.K. with the Gants Hillbillies, the Malcolm Price Trio and with Bluegrass Bands – The Clay County Travellers and The Southern Ramblers. He formed the band “Canaan Country” in 2008. Lynn still works as a solo artist and with Canaan Country as a trio. of fiddlers or fiddle music, you’re invited to join in CSOTFA’s musical gatherings. Meetings are generally “potluck” and you are encouraged to share light snacks and music to enrich both body and soul. Vegetarian dishes only please, and no alcohol.
